Johns Creek residents can get a detailed look at how their fire department operates when the Johns Creek Fire Department (JCFD) launches its next Citizens Fire Academy, Wednesday, Sept. 6.
During the course, participants will learn about JCFD operations, fire tactics and strategies and aspects of fire prevention and investigation techniques.
The academy meets for six weeks on Wednesdays: Sept. 6, Sept. 13, Sept. 20, Sept. 27, Oct. 4, and Oct. 11 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The classes include instruction (equipment, fire prevention); demonstrations (CPR, investigation techniques); and practical exercises (fire ground training, emergency medical exercises) and are held at the City's fire stations.
The Citizens Fire Academy is open to Johns Creek residents or those who work in Johns Creek age 18 and older who successfully pass the application process and a criminal history check. Applications will be accepted until Tuesday, Aug. 15 at 5 p.m.
